Virginia Bluebells
My dream of seeing an English wood carpeted in bluebells has not yet come true. But here, right now, one particular yard boasts its own miniature bluebell wood. English bluebells have curling, pointy petals and spiky leaves. Their Virginia cousins grow broader leaves and wear gentler, rounded skirts. I stop each time to marvel at the range of analogous colors within the bloom clusters; tight pink buds, lavender tubes, blue blossoms. Those flaring skirts are tie-dyed with a hints lavenders and pinks. I am perfectly happy visiting the local bluebells.
