Tiffany's Glass Daffodils
Louis Comfort Tiffany is known for far more than just stained glass windows and lamps. In the early 1900s he put much of his energy into the expansion of Laurelton Hall, his estate on Long Island. One highlight was the Daffodil Terrace featuring columns topped with daffodils. Each daffodil consists of twelve different cast glass petals in varying shades of yellow, all set into the tops the concrete columns. They survived years of outdoor neglect and a fire in 1957. Now you can see the restored terrace at the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum in Winter Park Florida and marvel at the many other examples of Tiffany’s creativity.
